The Rude Health Bog Snorkelling Championship 2019

This isn’t any bog-standard event it’s flipper-ing marvellous. The 34th annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships is happening this August, an event that Lonely Planet lists as one of the top 50 "must do" activities from around the world. Everyone is welcome. Everyone gets a medal. Everyone’s a winner.

What's Happening

Fancy donning your snorkel and flippers and taking the plunge? The Rude Health Bog Snorkelling Championships is literally as it sounds, a competition where you don your snorkel and swim the length of a 60-yard bog and back, as quickly as possible.

Sound like all this bog snorkelling will work up an appetite? Your post bog needs will be met by a spread of mouthbogglingly delicious food and drink from Rude Health, alongside other creative stalls, and the all-important bouncy castle.

Where is the World Bog Snorkelling Championship?

The event takes place in Waen Rhydd bog on the outskirts of the town. The bog is well signposted once you get into the town.

What To bring:

  • Snorkels, goggles and flippers are provided but we can’t guarantee to have correct sizes for all.
  • Wellies and clothing for all weather are advised.
  • Fancy dress is positively encouraged.
