Carrot Rye Porridge

26 Grains is home to the most stylish porridge in town.  Alex Hely-Hutchinson, 26 grains founder, ex Rude Health member, and oat queen has taken porridge to new heights over the last two years moving from Old Street pop up, to Neal’s Yard cafe and now a restaurant. Alex’s Carrot Rye Porridge was an artistic, hygge masterpiece.



100g Rude Health Daily Oats
25g Rye
250ml Water
250ml Carrot & orange juice
½ tsp Cinnamon
¼ tsp Salt
2 tbsp Maple Syrup
1 tsp Ginger, grated
1 tbsp Chestnut puree
Apple, raisins, seeds to garnish


  1. Soak the oats and rye in water, then add carrot & orange juice, cinnamon and salt and cook until oats thicken to a creamy consistency.
  2. Warm together the maple syrup and grated ginger, then top with chestnut puree, apple, raisins and seeds.
