Wait, aren’t oats always gluten-free?
Technically? Yes. In practice? It’s complicated.
Oats, by nature, are gluten-free. But on most farms, they cosy up next to wheat and barley, which are most definitely not. And unfortunately, grains don’t respect boundaries. They blow around. They mingle. It’s messy.
To keep our oats genuinely gluten-free, we work with farms that only grow oats or other gluten-free crops. No wheat. No barley. No uninvited gluten guests. Plus, our oats undergo rigorous testing throughout the supply chain to meet the EU/UK gluten-free gold standard (less than 20 parts per million).
The organic life of oats
Organic isn’t just a label, it’s a way of farming that makes a real difference. On organic farms, no artificial pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers are allowed. Instead, nature is given space to thrive, and it does.
The principles are simple: work with nature, not against it. Farmers use natural compost instead of synthetic, fossil fuel-based fertilisers. And rather than relying on chemicals to control weeds or insects, they plant companion crops to protect the oats.
You can see the difference. Organic farms are more alive, with richer soil and 30% more biodiversity. Not to mention the helping hand they give to the planet by storing more carbon in the soil.
